Safety
As a woman, safety is something not too far from my mind. Yes, I am adventurous and even daring, but ensuring that I am safe is paramount to continuing to travel long and well.

Making sure we that are aware of our surroundings at all time is a great place to start. There are so many great people in the world to meet and befriend, but of course there are those out there who will try to take whatever they can from us. A healthy awareness is so important. There are other practical things that you can employ also and I will be sharing these here.

This includes mental health. Taking the time for self-care and to connect with people back home (how great is technology these days?) are things that can't be ignored, even whilst living your best life.

Anyone who knows me well will know that the last few years have been a special kind of hell for me. At the end of a rather long and at times torturous time, I have now been medically retired from the Ambulance service and have spent countless months (years?) navigating the legal and emotional quagmire that has surrounded this.

As I approach my long-term travels I am acutely aware of what my mental limitations can be and am already thinking of the strategies I need in my toolkit to ensure that I take care of myself.

I am happy to share this journey with you all. I like the idea of accountability and understand that there are so many of us who have our own battles to navigate.

Feel free to drop me a line if you want to share your own thoughts regarding this. The long, lonely road can only become easier when we shine our light on each other when things get tough. x
